The .HU registry changed the registration process: all registrations of .HU domain names, including failed ones, will be fully billed.

To avoid disadvantages for you from this policy, we offer a new feature in cooperation with our partners: In case of incorrect or incomplete data all registrations will be successfully and compulsively completed using our partner’s proxy data. Registration requests cannot fail or time out anymore like this. Refunds are not possible.

Corrections of the registrant data for domains using the above-mentioned proxy-data fallback are free of charge. Please contact Support to send the required documents.

It is mandatory to use the registrants full name. Applications with abbreviated names (like M. Mustermann) as well as privacy protection etc. will be rejected by the registry!

If the registrant is an organization, please make sure to include the legal form in the organization field.

In regards to the registration process of the registry, there is a waiting period in which the domain remains in the status “PROCESSING”.

For 8 days the new domain is published on https://www.domain.hu/domain-announcement/. If no complaint is received within 8 days against a domain, it will be delegated to the applicant.

The registry sends confirmation emails directly to the registrant:

• One email for each newly created domain contact (maximum of two)
• One email to confirm the registrant’s email address and accept the Terms and Conditions

To complete the registration, the registrant must confirm all emails received. All emails come from [email protected]. The registrant should check their inbox and spam folder, as the confirmation links are only valid for 30 days.

If the processing is discontinued by the registry for incorrect data or if the registration is not finished (failing to confirm the email address or failing to approve terms and conditions), another registration attempt can be made only after 14-15 days.

Domain Renewal

RenewDomain is not available for .hu TLDs.

.hu domains cannot be renewed explicitly. To renew a .hu domain you have to set the domain renewal mode or default renewal mode to AUTORENEW or RENEWONCE.

Domain Restrictions

• There is an automatic check based on the corresponding RFCs available at https://info.domain.hu/webregcheck/en.
• A domain can be canceled by the registry due to not correctly configured name servers
• Hungarian or Community Trademark required. Domain name must match trademark term.
• Only individual and juridical persons residing in or belonging to the below mentioned countries (EU, EGT, EFTA, and Hungary neigbours) can register domain names under the ccTLD ”.HU”.

• If the registrant is an organization, please make sure to include the legal form in the organization field.
• The admin contact of the domain has to be resident of the country Hungary.
• The owner and admin contact have to contain the name of a real person. Wild cards or role contacts like ‘Domain Manager’ are not allowed.
• Further details about the registration requirements can be found on the registry website at http://www.domain.hu/domain/English/szabalyzat/szabalyzat.html
• If the registrant is an organization, the admin needs to be an organization as well.
  • Private persons can only be accepted as admin, if they are identical with the registrant.
